Afforestation at Álfadalur, Álfheimar and Skógarbrekkur in Grímsnes- og Grafningshreppur

Skógálfar has notified the National Planning Agency (Skipulagsstofnun) of planned afforestation that may require an environmental impact assessment under Article 19 of Act No. 111/2021 on the Environmental Assessment of Projects and Plans.

The notification covers afforestation on three plots of land, adding to the afforestation already under way. The three plots total 230 ha, while existing afforestation covers plots totalling 386.5 ha. The work on the plots follows the requirements of the Forest Carbon Code (Skógarkolefni). The land is heathland that was formerly part of the farms Neðra-Apavatn and Þóroddsstaðir.
